Windy Wednesday

Chhh chh ch changes! We’ve broken the 60+ degree pattern for some good old fashioned winter wind and cold. You’ll notice first thing this morning that the wind is whipping – especially across the higher elevations where there is a high wind warning and wind advisory for the potential of 50-60 mph gusts. Highs today will only reach the low 30s for the mountains and low 50s through the Piedmont. But, it will be feeling even colder with the wind. Freezing start for Thursday with potential for negative zero wind chills in the mountains. It will be below freezing every where else. This cold not going anywhere. Highs won’t get out of the 40s over the next week. This weekend will bring rain and even brief periods of snow and possible sleet. As of now, accumulations are not looking likely except for the higher elevations.
