CHARLOTTE, NC — In an emotional video posted to Twitter Wednesday night, NFL linebacker Thomas Davis announces his time with the Carolina Panthers has come to an end.

Davis says he intended on returning to the Panthers next season, but was told Monday that the team was going in a different direction with his position.
In the video, Davis says he has “loved and cherished every moment” in Carolina and it will always be home. He also expressed immense gratitude for the love and support he and his family have received from the Panthers Nation throughout his 14 years with the team.
“I’m not retiring,” Davis says.
The veteran NFL linebacker says he has too much football left in him to hang up his jersey just yet. Davis says he wants to keep playing and will keep playing, but “never imagined” he would be doing it in another team’s uniform.
“It’s not a decision that I wanted to make, but it’s a decision that I had to make.”
Davis thanked the Carolina Panthers organization as well as his teammates, and says he will always remember and cherish his time there.
