Police: Two Teens Charged With Breaking And Entering, Stealing In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two teens have been arrested after police say they attempted to break into cars and steal property in South Charlotte early Tuesday.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to Calabassas Lane near E. Independence Boulevard where a 911 caller heard an alarm go off and saw several men run from the location of a car.

The 911 caller told police a description of the suspects and direction of travel where the men were last seen running. Police circulated the Sardis Place Apartments and located all three men.

After a short foot chase, officers arrested two of the suspects, 17-year-old Arthur Kirkpatrick and 17-year-old Nehemiah Harvey.

While on scene, officers located stolen property from one of the victims in Harvey’s possession and found that Harvey had outstanding warrants that were unrelated to this case.

Kirkpatrick was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Harvey was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. Harvey was also served the outstanding warrants.

Both suspects have been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
