LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A Lincoln County man has been charged with abusing a toddler after bruises were found on the child’s face and neck.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives began investigating reports of child abuse, after a 2-year-old was taken to Atrium Healthcare Hospital in Lincolnton, on January 16th, 2019.
Deputies say the 2-year-old child was left alone with the her mother’s live-in boyfriend while her mother left to run errands. According to deputies, when the mother returned she noticed severe bruising on the child’s neck and face area. The mother immediately took the child to the emergency room for treatment.
On January 17th, 2019, detectives executed a search warrant at the home of the child in 2000 block of Barsdale Lane in Lincolnton.
Subsequently, 33-year-old Michael Scott Constance, of Lincolnton, was interviewed and taken into custody.
Constance was charged with one count of felony Child Abuse and Assault on a Child Under 12 and was held on a $40,000 secured bond.
