SALISBURY, NC — A school bus driver is facing charges after she allegedly assaulted a 7-year-old student with autism.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday, January 14. Salisbury Police say the Principal of Overton Elementary reported a possible assault involving the school bus driver, Grace King, and a student who was diagnosed with autism.
Following an investigation into the incident and gathering witness statements, police obtained warrants charging King with Assault on a Child under 12 and Assault on a Handicap Person.
The child was not injured during the alleged assault.
Police say King turned herself in Thursday and was released on a written promise to appear in court on February 20.
