Deputies Find Escaped Inmate Hiding In Abandoned Mobile Home

The Latest:

Authorities say they captured Jason Mullen early Friday morning after he escaped from the Alexander County Detention Center.  Officials say they used a bloodhound and a drone to track Mullen to an abandoned mobile home off Highway 90.

Mullen was taken into custody around 4:30am and transported back to the Alexander County Detention Center.  He has now been charged with one count of escape from a detention facility and one count of felony larceny of a vehicle.

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are searching for an inmate who escaped the Alexander County Jail Thursday night.

The inmate- 33-year-old Jason Mullen- is a trustee who walked away from the jail after emptying the trash and running from deputies, according to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies believe Mullen may be in a 1987 Gray Dodge truck with a camper shell that is said to be stolen from CVCC technical school in Taylorsville. They say be on the lookout for a license plate numbered DKJ7042.

Mullen is wanted for escape. He has brown hair and blue eyes, is 6′ tall and weighs 160 pounds.

The escapee is due in the Iredell County court next week for drug and weapons charges.
