Arctic Air And Strong Winds Expected Sunday
A big time cold front is sending arctic air in Sunday. We’ll see widespread rain across the region with the mountains picking up snow starting Sunday morning. Rain totals run from around a half inch to an inch, and mountain snow ends up at about one to two inches. Mountain ice across the roads likely create driving issues Sunday into Monday.
A High Wind Warning is in effect Sunday for the mountains, as well. 20 – 35 mph steady winds and gusts up to 60 mph will send wind chills well below zero. Bundle up. It’s windy across the Piedmont and Foothills too. MLK Day becomes sunny, but highs top out at around 40°.

Sunday: Decreasing clouds, decreasing temps. Afternoon temps: Low 40s.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear. Low 21°.
MLK Day: Sunny and cold. High 40°.
