Carolina Insight: Celebrating Charlotte’s 250th Anniversary Through Arts, Science And Culture

CLT 250 is a city-wide celebration marking Charlotte’s 250th anniversary.

From now until May, the Queen City has partnered with organizations throughout the city to provide community-led events that mark this monumental occasion.

One of those partnerships is with the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

In this week’s Carolina Insight, WCCB spoke with the president of ASC, Robert Bush, about what arts and culture has meant to the community and how the organization plans to commemorate Charlotte’s 250th anniversary.

ASC is the central funding for all arts, history and science activities in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and funds over 200 organizations a year across the community.

Over the past six years, ASC started “Connect With Culture Days” that gives free program access for all residents to take part in art, science and history organizations.

Maybe you’d like to see a ballerina performance, a concert or maybe even take an African drumming class. The possibilities are endless and they’re free, fun and educational for all.
