CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gas prices have begun to level out across the Carolinas, and are no longer consistently dropping like they have done for the past three months.
North Carolina’s $2.12 average is up two cents on the week, but down ten cents on the month and down 22 cents on the year. South Carolina’s $1.97 average is up three cents on the week but down two cents on the month and 34 cents on the year.
“Unfortunately, prices have stopped dropping like we were enjoying for the past few months,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “But, the over-supply of crude in the market and low demand have helped keep prices low and stable. Crude oil prices will be a dominant factor in determining if motorists will see cheaper or more expensive pump prices in the coming weeks.”
