Two Charged With Multiple Lancaster County Vehicle Break-Ins
INDIAN LAND, SC — Deputies have charged two suspects with breaking into several vehicles Sunday morning in the Rosemont neighborhood.
Tiyon Lucas, 20, and Malek Lyons-Roberts, 18, both of Winston-Salem, NC, were arrested Sunday after officials say they eluded deputies for several hours.
The suspects were reportedly spotted breaking into vehicles around 4am in the area of Clover Hill and Crandon Road. The men escaped the first responding deputy, officials say, but were later spotted in a vehicle that was backed into a dead end at Tanner Crossing Lane and Yellow Stone Drive.
When a deputy tried to approach the vehicle, officials say Lucas and Roberts sped off and nearly hit the deputy. A resident soon reported that the vehicle had crashed into his fence and the two suspects had taken off on foot.
The two men were later found at a Taco Bell on Charlotte Highway, according to reports, after a manager reported two young men in dirty clothes loitering in the dining room. According to the manager, the men said they were stranded and waiting for a ride.
Lucas and Roberts were soon taken into custody by responding deputies.
Officials say they seized a .38 caliber revolver from Lucas at the time of his arrest. The gun was reportedly stolen out of High Point, NC.
Investigators say five cars were broken into on Rosemont Drive, Park View Court and Crandon Road. Money, clothing, sunglasses, wallets, purses, identification cards, credit cards, gift cards and electronics were among the items stolen.
Lucas and Roberts are both charged with five counts of Autobreaking. Lucas is additionally charged with Carrying a Pistol, Possession of a Stolen Pistol, Driving without a License,
and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Property Damage.
