CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three teens have been charged after police say two of them shot three other teens during a drug transaction in east Charlotte on Tuesday.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have charged 17-year-old Matthew Morgan, a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy in connection to a shooting that occurred at the Family Dollar on Milton Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a 14-year-old, 15-year-old and 17-year-old with gunshot wounds. Medic transported the boys to Atrium Health for treatment.
Police say the victims were meeting the teen suspects to conduct a drug transaction. During the encounter, Morgan, the 14-year-old and the 15-year-old approached the victims’ car and attempted to rob them. Both juvenile suspects then fired multiple shots, striking the three teen victims.
Morgan was charged with possession of schedule IV drugs and possession of marijuana. The 14 and 15 year-old male juveniles were charged with armed robbery, felony conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and attempted murder and transferred to the custody of a juvenile detention center.
No word yet on the condition of the three teens who were shot.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A police source says Tuesday’s shootout in an east Charlotte parking lot that left three people seriously injured was not random. The source also tells WCCB that all of the people involved are in their teens.
CMPD has confirmed that a call for service was made around 4:06pm at a Family Dollar on Milton Road, and two victims were found at the scene with gunshot wounds. A second call was also confirmed around 4:20pm at an apartment complex on Barrington Drive where officers found a third person with gunshot wounds.
Medic says all three were taken to CMC with life threatening injuries.
According to the police source, two teens were in a vehicle at the Family Dollar when a third teen began shooting at them. The shooter was reportedly injured when the two teens began firing back, and ran to the apartments on Barrington Drive.
Police have not said whether or not they are searching for additional suspects. This is an ongoing investigation.
