MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Deputies say they arrested a man for assaulting his 83-year-old mother in Mooresville.
Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assault call on Pier 33 Drive on January 19th. Upon arrival, the victim, an 83-year-old woman, told investigators her son and caretaker, Raymond Grimes, assaulted her at their home.

The woman claims she got into an argument with Grimes when he grabbed her by the arms and threw her into a wall inside the home, causing her to hit her head on the wall and a table. The woman also told investigators the physical abuse has been ongoing for several weeks.
Deputies say they obtained enough evidence to arrest Grimes, who was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and charged with felony assault on an elderly person. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond.
