Victim Of Deadly Monroe House Fire Identified

The victim of the deadly fire has been identified as 43-year-old Shari Shawnell Ray.

Investigators are trying to determine if the home was equipped with smoke detectors at the time of the fire.

Monroe Fire, along with the Monroe Police Department, Union County Fire Marshal and the North Carolina Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.

No nearby buildings were affected by the fire and no injuries were sustained by emergency service personnel.

MONROE, N.C. – A woman is dead after a fire broke out at a home in Monroe overnight.

Monroe fire officials were sent around midnight to the home, located at 3213 Old Charlotte Highway. The structure was found fully engulfed.

The woman killed inside was the only person home at the time, according to authorities.

It took crews several hours to put out the flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
