Hit And Run Suspect Charged After Crashing Into House Wednesday Morning

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has charged 32-year-old Marquis Shuford, of Claremont, for a hit and run that happened on Wednesday, January 23rd.

Shuford was arrested around 3:30pm on Tuesday, deputies say, after allegedly crashing into a home last week and taking off. Officials say the accident caused roughly $35,000 in damages to the victim’s home.

He is charged with two counts of Driving While License Revoked, and one count each of Hit and Run/Fail to Stop for Property Damage, Damage to Personal Property, Damage to Real Property and Failure to Report an Accident.

Shuford was given a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 4th.

TAYLORSVILLE, NC — The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect who crashed into a home Tuesday morning and took off.

The accident happened around 5:30am at a home on Piney Grove Road. Deputies say the homeowner was awakened by the crash, and found significant damage to the outside.

Several parts from the vehicle were also left behind, officials say.

Investigators say the vehicle is believed to be a 1989 or newer Toyota pickup, possibly four wheel drive, silver, with extensive front end damage.
