CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has charged a man accused of breaking into a vehicle in southeast Charlotte overnight.
A resident reportedly saw a vehicle being broken into on Mason Wallace Drive around 2:10am and called 911. Police say 32-year-old Ahmed Al-Hajdeib was inside a vehicle when officers arrived, but tried to escape on foot.
Al-Hajdeib was quickly apprehended, police say, and found to be in possession of stolen property from the vehicle. Police say he also had a schedule I controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Police have charged Al-Hajdeib with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny from a motor vehicle, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resist/delay/obstruct a law enforcement officer.
