County Increases Minimum Hourly Rate To $15/Hour For Regular, Full-Time Employees

Mecklenburg County, NC – Effective Feb. 13, Mecklenburg County is increasing the minimum hourly rate for regular, full-time employees to $15 per hour. Employees will see the increase reflected in their March 8 paycheck.

The wage increase was a topic of discussion at the Board of County Commissioners’ recent annual retreat. The increase affects 89 County employees and will cost the County approximately $176,000 (including benefits for all positions).

“We regularly review pay to help ensure we can attract and retain the best employees,” said Mecklenburg County Manager Dena R. Diorio. β€œThe Board has demonstrated support to provide a more livable wage to those making less than $15 an hour.”
