Local Boy Raises Thousands Of Dollars For K9 Bullet Proof Vests

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit will soon have bulletproof vests for all its dogs, all thanks to Max Milas, a local boy from Union County who raised thousands of dollars for the vests through online donations. Max says he wanted to help out because he says dogs are often the first ones to enter the line of fire.

The sheriff’s office will get six vests, one for every member of its K-9 Unit. To get the process going, the dogs have already got their measurements taken over the weekend.

This is a huge deal for law enforcement officers because the vests are very expensive. We’re talking $2,500 a piece!
