CHARLOTTE, NC — The top boys and girls youth teams from across North Carolina will compete Saturday in the Gatorade Jr. NBA All-Star Invitational as part of NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.
The single-elimination tournament will feature 16 (eight each) of the state’s top 13 to 14-year-old boys and girls teams. The teams participating advanced from 96 teams who competed in the preliminary competitions in December.
Honorary coaches for the game include WNBA champion Kristi Toliver and former NBA players Bruce Bowen and Antawn Jamison.
The games will be held Saturday, February 16th.
Semifinals will take place from 9:00-10:30am at the Charlotte Convention Center. Championship games will take place from 4:00-6:30pm at Bojangles’ Coliseum.
The winning boys and girls teams will earn a spot to compete in the Jr. NBA Global Championship Southeast Regional in Emerson, Georgia from June 14-16. From there, the winning teams will advance to the second Jr. NBA Global Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports near Orlando, Florida in August.
