CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Area Fund (CAF) has partnered with the National Basketball Retired Players Association Chapters (NBRPA-Chapters) to present the 2019 Community Youth Development Summit during the NBA All-Star Week.
Retired NBA legends and local community leaders will embark on a two-day tour to local high schools hosting assemblies and engaging youth on February 14th and 15th.
“The Charlotte Area Fund is proud to join with the NBRPA in its commitment to community action to directly impact the lives of young people and families,” said Nicholas Wharton, CAF President and CEO.
Thursday’s 6-8 p.m. event will feature a tastemakers screening of Jump Shot; a new film from Executive Producer Steph Curry. This fabulous documentary feature, which will have its world premiere at SXSW in March, features Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Bobby Knight, Jay Bilas, Clark Kellogg, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Legler and many more boldface basketball names. Among the Legends who are expected to be on hand for the screening and post-film cocktail reception at Spirit Square on February 14th are Tiny Archibald, David Thompson, Muggsy Bogues, Charlie Scott, Tree Rollins, Artis Gilmore, Major Jones, Tom Hoover and more!
Friday’s Youth Summit events will feature a variety of opportunities for community youth to explore the fundamentals of seizing opportunities for success. It will additionally feature a vendor fair focused on exciting programming available for area youth; various leadership breakout sessions and a panel discussion facilitated by basketball legends and local Charlotte community leaders.
