CONCORD, NC — A person is dead after authorities say they were hit by an Amtrak train Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3:30pm near Corban Avenue. A spokesperson with Amtrak says the victim was on the tracks when the train carrying around 50 customers hit them.
No other injuries were reported.
The spokesperson says the Amtrak 76 was involved in the accident, which is the Piedmont that travels daily from Charlotte to Raleigh.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
