Several Suspects Arrested After Union County Home Invasion
MONROE, NC — Union County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested five suspects after reportedly witnessing a home invasion Thursday afternoon while conducting a narcotics surveillance operation nearby.
Detectives say they were watching an area in the Hampton Meadows neighborhood off of Goldmine Road around 3:30pm when they saw two men kick in the door of a home on Willow Run Drive.
The suspects reportedly got out of a small red vehicle, put on ski masks and hoodies and entered the home. Deputies say the suspects then left the house carrying a bag and got back into the vehicle.
The suspects were soon stopped near Goldmine Road and Corporate Center Road, and two were taken into custody without incident. A third suspect tried to run on foot, deputies say, but was arrested a short time later.
Officials say a 9mm pistol, taser, multiple cell phones, roughly 1,100 Xanax bars and ski masks were found in the vehicle.
Gabriel Oyach, 20, of Matthews, Jaydan Burwell, 20, of Charlotte, and Michael Byrd, 24, of Charlotte, are each charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Felonious Breaking and Entering and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.
Burwell and Byrd are both additionally charged with Felony Larceny.
Narcotics detectives also arrested Michael Tabbit, 18, of Wesley Chapel, and Jonathan Swierski, 20, of the Willow Run Drive address, in connection to the original surveillance operation.
Officials say they served search warrants at the Willow Run Drive home and seized marijuana, roughly 200 Xanax bars, Roxicodone pills, over $2,400 cash and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies say Tabbit and Swierski are facing multiple drug related charges.
