CMPD Makes Arrest In Fatal Hit And Run Case

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man for a fatal hit and run that happened in north Charlotte in January.

On Sunday, February 17th, officers conducted a traffic stop on a burgundy Nissan Murano driven by Steven Horton.

The Nissan had front end damage to the hood, bumper, parking light and windshield which was consistent with a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run that happened on January 12th on Reagan Drive, according to a news release.

The Nissan Murano was towed to the Crime Scene Bay and processed for evidence.  Police say vehicle debris previously collected at the scene of the fatal crash was positively matched to the Nissan driven by Horton.

Tommie Ruffin was killed in the hit and run.  Horton has been charged with felony hit and run.
