Panthers Re-Sign Running Back Elijah Hood

The Carolina Panthers have signed running back Elijah Hood to a one-year contract, the team announced. Hood was slated to become an exclusive rights free agent in March.

Hood spent the 2018 season on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury on the opening kickoff of the fourth preseason game at Pittsburgh.

He was signed off waivers by Carolina in May of 2018 after spending most of the 2017 season on Oakland’s practice squad. He played in his only career NFL game for Oakland at Buffalo.

Hood was drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 Draft by Oakland out of the University of North Carolina, where he tallied the second-highest single-season rushing total (1,463, 2015) in program history. Originally from Charlotte, N.C., Hood attended Charlotte Catholic High School.
