Two Arrested After Alleged Assault, Vehicle Theft At Lincolnton Convenience Store

Lincoln County deputies say Billy Franklin, III and Jessica Nations were both arrested overnight in Alexander County during a traffic stop.

Officers in Taylorsville reportedly stopped the couple wanted for allegedly assaulting, stabbing and stealing the vehicle of a convenience store owner Wedensday morning in Lincoln County.

Alexander County officials say the suspects tried to give them false IDs during the stop. They quickly learned however, that the vehicle was reported stolen and the couple was wanted on several outstanding warrants related to the crime.

In addition to the charges filed in Lincoln County, authorities say Alexander County deputies have also charged each suspect with possession of a stolen vehicle and identity theft.

LINCOLNTON, NC — Lincoln County deputies are searching for a man and woman accused of assaulting a convenience store owner Wednesday morning and stealing her vehicle.

Deputies say Jessica Nations was using the telephone inside the Corner Market on Confederate Road around 11:15am when Billy Franklin, III went around the counter and assaulted the business owner with a knife and his fist.

After the couple left the store, officials say Franklin came back inside and continued the assault before taking the keys to her gold 2001 Honda Odyssey. No money is believed to have been taken during the crime, investigators say.

The victim reportedly suffered a stab wound to the chest and multiple facial injuries. She is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.

Franklin, 32, of Cherryville and Nations, 27, of Gastonia are believed to be driving the owner’s stolen vehicle, which has a North Carolina license plate WRS-1696.

Franklin is wanted for attempted first degree murder, felony common law robbery, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and misdemeanor larceny.

Nations is wanted for accessory to attempted first degree murder, common law robbery, felony conspiracy, larceny of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and accessory to assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
