CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Sunday, Officers responded to Gibbon Road in reference to a report of a crash involving two vehicles.
Upon their arrival, the officers located an unresponsive male inside a Toyota Corolla which was overturned onto its side and located off the roadway.
The second vehicle involved in the crash was a Toyota Tundra which was in the roadway with an injured driver.
Medic pronounced the driver of the Toyota Corolla, Marcus Rene Horbachefsky, deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Eric Delaney Legrand, sustained a minor injury and was transported to Atrium Health Center.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Toyota Corolla was traveling southeast on Gibbon Road when it crossed the center double yellow dividing line and struck the Toyota Tundra head-on, according to a news release. The Toyota Tundra was traveling northwest on Gibbon Road when the collision occurred.
After impact, the Toyota Corolla ran off the roadway and overturned onto its side. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and speed is not a contributing factor for this crash, according to police.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra was not driving while impaired and test results are pending for the victim/driver of the Toyota Corolla, according to a news release.
