CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they made an arrest in a shooting that happened in the elevator of a hotel at the Epicentre in Uptown Charlotte.
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say David Monts, 26, has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Police say on Sunday, March 3rd at around 1:15am, an argument took place between three people who were inside an elevator at the AC Hotel located at the Epicentre on E. Trade Street.
As the argument escalated, police say Monts, who was not a guest at the hotel, pulled out a gun and a struggle took place. During the fight, Monts was shot in the leg as was one of the two male victims.
Police say the suspect and the victims did not know each other.
