Neighbors Frustrated About New Hawthorne Street Bridge Setback

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Neighbors are frustrated by another setback for the new Hawthorne Street Bridge in East Charlotte.

It was supposed to reopen this month, but the contractor has to remove and replace the new steel girders and there’s no new timeline for when the project will be finished.

The bridge has been closed since July 2017. The construction is part of the second phase of the Gold Line streetcar project.
