Two Now Charged In Connection To Multiple Rowan County Robberies

ROWAN COUNTY, NC — A man wanted in connection to several armed robberies throughout Rowan County has been arrested, and officials say an additional suspect now faces charges.

Spencer Vann Botteon, 20, and Joseph Waddell, 22, have each been charged following their arrest Thursday night.

The most recent robbery took place Wednesday afternoon at Pop’s Country Store on Highway 601. Deputies say Botteon robbed the store at gunpoint and took off in a truck driven by Waddell.

After receiving several tips from the public on Botteon’s possible whereabouts, investigators say they were able to locate Waddell and his truck in the area of Charolais Drive off of Longs Ferry Road.

Authorities say Botteon was located at a home nearby where the owner identified him and called Rowan County deputies.

Both men have been charged in connection to the Pop’s store robbery. Botteon faces additional charges connected to robberies at a store on Jake Alexander Boulevard near I-85 and another store in China Grove.

Officials say this is a joint investigation between the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Salisbury Police and China Grove Police.
