CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man for shooting and killing an alleged carjacking suspect in Uptown Charlotte.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to West Trade Street just after 2am on March 16th for an apparent robbery.
The victim told dispatchers on 911 that his vehicle was stolen at gunpoint but the suspect had not left the scene and was sitting in the vehicle. While still talking to dispatchers, the victim said the suspect exited the vehicle and was shot by a man.
Detectives say the shooting suspect has been identified as Albert Washington. Washington was taken into custody on March 18th after officers conducted a traffic stop on Dundeen Street.
Police also released the name of the person shot and killed. He has been identified as Brandon Clark.
Officers say another vehicle and an apartment were also struck by bullets from this shooting but no one else was injured or killed.
Washington has been charged with first degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
