Virginia Player Kyle Guy Claims He Can’t Have A Wedding Registry
Virginia basketball player Kyle Guy claims he had to hide his online wedding registry from the public to keep from breaking NCAA rules about the gifts and benefits that college athletes can receive.
Virginia is in the Final Four and Guy has averaged 15 points a game this season, so it is possible that fans or donors might want to reward his performance.
When a reporter asked Guy about it Thursday, he said he seemed more focused on winning the tournament.
“Yeah, NCAA said it was illegal, so I’m not going to argue with it right now,” Guy said. “I’m going to try to win a national championship, and we’ll open that book.”
NCAA president Mark Emmert says wedding gifts from friends and family aren’t against the rules and that the NCAA didn’t ask him to take down his registry, but maybe someone from the university did.
