Randolph Middle School Students Perform Before Their Appearance at Monday’s “A Musical Showcase”

'A Musical Showcase' at the Belk Theater Monday, April 8th at 7pm.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The Ringing Raiders from Randolph Middle School stopped by Rising this morning to perform for us before they appear on “A Musical Showcase” on Monday night at Belk Theater.   The choral group was directed by Julia Lathan.

“A Musical Showcase” is a competition celebrating the musical excellence of students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.  Not only will there be performances from local choral groups but also chamber orchestras, symphony orchestras, performing bands, percussion ensembles and jazz bands.  Paul Anderson, President of Charlotte Concerts Board of Directors talked with Derek and Julianna about how the showcase originated, the importance of highlighting local musical talent and how the groups are chosen to participate.
