School Closings On May 1st

The Iredell-Statesville School District is holding an emergency meeting today to talk about whether to cancel classes on May 1st. Teachers across the state are planning to rally in Raleigh. This will be the second year that teachers have rallied in Raleigh. More than 16k showed up last year.

Teachers plan to ask lawmakers for better working conditions along with more funding for supplies, security and teach assistants.

In our area, Hickory Public Schools are the latest to announce they are closing that day. The District joins 16 others including Cabarrus, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Kannapolis City, and Mooresville Graded Schools.
