Man Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges After Shooting In Lancaster County
LANCASTER, SC — A man is facing multiple drug charges after an investigation into a shooting reported early Wednesday morning.
Lancaster County deputies were called to the Medical University of South Carolina-Lancaster around 2:20am in reference to a shooting victim. Deputies say Freeman Wright, 29, was being treated for a gunshot wound to his left arm.
Investigators spoke with Wright, but say he provided very little information about the circumstances of the shooting and how he got to the hospital.
Later Wednesday morning, deputies went to Wright’s home on Douglas Heights Lane to get more information. While there, officials say they made several observations that resulted in search warrants being issued on the home.
Investigators say they found 5.1 grams of suspected Heroin, 10.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 7.5 grams of suspected Cocaine, pills believed to be Oxycodone Hydrochloride, Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine, and Buprenorphine Naloxone Hydrochloride and 215.1 grams of suspected Marijuana.
Several digital scales, $1,250 in cash, a .32 caliber revolver, 12 gauge shotgun, .22 rifle, 7.62 x 39 mm rifle and a 9 mm rifle were also reportedly seized.
Following the search, Wright was arrested and charged with Trafficking 4-14 Grams of Heroin, Trafficking 10-28 Grams of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, four counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
