Neighbors In Wesley Heights Fighting To Keep Historic Home

CHARLOTTE, NC. —ย  Neighbors in Wesley Heights are fighting to keep a historic home. The owner wants to tear down the 94-year-old home is on South Summit Avenue.

Neighbors say it’s the nooks and crannies that make the house so special.

โ€œCharacter in it, just a little touches that you donโ€™t see in homes anymore, and you canโ€™t reproduce,” says Wesley Heights resident Jason Clark.

Upset neighbors started a petition to keep it standing.

โ€œItโ€™s a piece of the neighborhood, sure itโ€™s not my house or I donโ€™t live there, but itโ€™s a part of the community,” adds Clark.

The owner submitted a request to the Historic District Commission to demolish it in February. The commission delayed it for 365 days. The longest it can be pushed back. After that, it can be demolished.
