UNC Charlotte Campus, Somber And Quiet After Campus Re-Opens
CHARLOTTE, NC. — The UNC Charlotte campus is open, resuming regular operations for the first time since the deadly shooting.
Students say it’s surreal to be walking on campus. They told WCCB, while the campus looks the same, it feels different.
โYou look around nobody is smiling. Itโs obvious something bad happened, even if I didnโt know what happened,” says UNC Charlotte student Zachary Voight.
Students continued to pay their respects to the victims. Placing flowers at several memorials on campus.
โAt a time like this, Iโm looking to support one another, my friends. Even reach out to my professors and checking on them,” says student Justin Witherspoon.
The University announcing that final exams are optional. Giving relief to many students.
“I think it’s like giving everybody a little bit of a mourning period,” says senior Tara Miller.
