Man Arrested For Homicide At Apartment Complex Near UNC Charlotte Campus

 

The Latest:

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged 21-year-old Javier Concepcion-Perez for the murder of Donqwavias Davis.

Suspect: Javier Concepcion Perez

Police say as a result of continued investigation into this case, Concepcion-Perez was identified as a suspect. Concepcion-Perez was arrested by VCAT with assistance from the NCSBI and the US Secret Service and transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives.

At the conclusion of the interview, Concepcion-Perez was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Firearm by Felon and Murder.

This is an ongoing, active investigation. As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Update:

The CMPD has identified the victim as 22-year-old Donqwavias Davis.

Police have not identified a suspect.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are investigating a homicide that happened near UNC Charlotte’s campus Wednesday night.

The shooting was reported around 7:49pm at an apartment complex on University Village Boulevard at Chuck Wagon Court. Medic initially said three people were transported to CMC with life threatening injuries, but then issued a correction minutes later saying “1 (one) gsw patient transported.”

One person was pronounced dead at the hospital, CMPD confirmed, and a homicide investigation is underway.

CMPD says UNC Charlotte Police did arrive to assist in the investigation, but the victim “is in no way affiliated with the University of North Carolina Charlotte.”

The shooting reportedly happened near a pool and does not appear to be random. Police say no arrests have been made at this time.

This shooting happened less than two miles from where a deadly shooting took place Tuesday on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Police say there is no threat to campus.
