Albemarle Police say they caught a man accused of robbing several businesses in the area. Officers were called to Family Video around 10pm on May 4th in reference to an armed robbery.
Witnesses told police a man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk while holding a small caliber weapon. The man left the store after the clerk handed him money, according to a news release.
Police say they had strategically placed officers throughout the city due to the increased number of robberies in the last few weeks. Officials say this technique worked as officers were in the area within seconds and arrested David Carpenter as he was fleeing the scene of the robbery, according to a news release.
