CHARLOTTE, NC — Some area schools will dismiss early on Friday to honor fallen Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Sheldon.
Lake Norman Charter announced Thursday they will dismiss early Friday, beginning at 11:15am. They released the following statement regarding the dismissals:

HS dismisses at 11:15am. MS dismisses at 11:30am. ES dismisses at 12:00pm.To honor, celebrate and remember the life of Officer Jordan Sheldon, a service will be held in Charlotte at 11:00 am this Friday, followed by a procession to the Mooresville Police Department. Local law enforcement anticipates a 10-15 mile procession that includes several thousand emergency vehicles from across the state will travel northbound on Hwy 115 past the Lake Norman Charter campus during our traditional dismissal time. Our goal is to release early so that we can respectfully clear traffic and allow families to be able to get to campus given the increased traffic.
Iredell-Statesville Schools sent out the following statement Wednesday night regarding the early dismissal of two of their schools:
Funeral services for Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Sheldon will be held Friday morning at Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC. Following an 11am public service, the funeral procession will travel from Highway 77 and then onto highway 115 through Huntersville, Davidson, and Mooresville. In honor of Officer Sheldon, Mt. Mourne School and Coddle Creek Elementary will operate on an early release schedule.
Coddle Creek Elementary will dismiss at 11am. Mt. Mourne School will dismiss at 11:30 am. Students are encouraged to find a spot along the procession route to honor Officer Sheldon. Any
student in the Iredell-Statesville Schools who wishes to leave school early to view the funeral procession will be marked as excused. The processional is scheduled to arrive in Davidson/Mooresville between 2:15-3:30pm on Friday. The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education and administration encourage ALL I-SS students to wear blue in honor of Officer Sheldon and our law enforcement officials, who watch over all of us every day.
