Pilot with North Carolina Ties Arrested and Charged in Triple-Homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – We’re learning more about a pilot charged in a brutal triple-homicide.

Police arrested Christian Richard Martin at Louisville Airport on Saturday, where he was scheduled to work on a flight to Charlotte.

“It’s like totally something you’d totally see in a movie, in a movie, yeah,” says passenger Ashley Martin, who is not related to the suspect.

She and her family were booked on the flight.

“The workers, you could tell they were stressed. You could feel that energy, you could feel the tension from the flight attendants,” she explains.

American Airlines confirms the suspect is a pilot for their regional subsidiary PSA.

He’s charged with the 2015 murders of Calvin Phillips, his wife Pamela, and their neighbor Edward Dansereau in Pembroke, Kentucky.

Investigators say Phillips was found shot to death in his home, and his wife and neighbor were found in a burned up car a few miles away in a cornfield.

In a statement, American and PSA Airlines said in part, “All of us… are deeply saddened to have learned about these allegations.”

They go on to say..”We have an unwavering commitment to the safety and security of our customers and team members.”

The airline has placed Martin on administrative suspension.

He’s being held in Kentucky without bond.
