CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A detention officer for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has been terminated after being arrested.
Sheriff Garry McFadden says Detention Officer Phillip DeVore was arrested and charged with assault on a female. DeVore’s employment with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office began in June 2017 but he was terminated on May 23rd after warrants were issued for his arrest.
A news release sent from the Sheriff’s Office says:
We are deeply disappointed in the conduct of one of our staff members. As a public safety organization, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office requires all employees to demonstrate professional and ethical conduct both on and off-duty.
No details in regards to his arrest have been released at this time.
