LASTING TRIBUTE: Veterans Memorial Garden Dedicated in Indian Trail
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – A lasting tribute to those who have served and sacrificed. On Memorial Day, hundreds gathered in Indian Trail to dedicate a new Veterans Memorial.
“We need to honor all our vets. Particularly those who have sacrificed the ultimate,” says John Eigenbrode.
Patriotic music played as flags were raised.
“It’s important that all our veterans past, present, and future know that we respect them, we think about them, we love them, we honor their service,” says Mayor Michael Alvarez.
Designer Patrick Sadek says he wants people to remember the shape of the monument.
“The reason I chose the horseshoe because it does symbolize protection, which is coming from our veterans,” Sadek explains.
Children will be able to visit and learn about those who were called to serve and why. The monument also includes a wall of plaques honoring veterans.
“Well it was very important because we need to have a way to honor our servicemen, I mean that’s what this county stands for,” says Don Helms with the Rotary Club.
The monument will stand for years to come to honor those who gave everything.
“These are the people who thought our country was good enough to fight for and maybe even die for, and a lot of them have,” Eigenbrode says.
