Wreaths Across America

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2007 to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. In that first year, 5,000 wreaths were donated by his company, Worcester Wreath Co., and laid on graves in Arlington. The millionth wreath was placed at Arlington in 2012. In 2014 and each year since, every headstone in Arlington has been covered. Last year, it took over 253,000. WAA is not affiliated with any religion or political party. It is our mission to honor every fallen military service member during the holiday season, no matter what is happening in the nation or overseas. In addition to the events at Arlington each year, more than 1,600 locations in 50 states and in France also participate. These locations help to carry out the mission of WAA which is Remember, Honor, Teach. Our location is brand new this year and includes 2,500 veteran graves that we are trying to get covered on National Wreaths Across America Day, December 14, 2019.

Honoring every fallen veteran is not a job one person can do alone.  Stacey Krespan stopped by Rising to talk about how you can help Wreaths Across America.
