HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Multiple schools were placed on lockdown after a student made an anonymous threat Tuesday at North Mecklenburg High School.
Officials say the shooting threat was called in Tuesday morning. North Mecklenburg High School was immediately placed on lockdown as well as Blythe Elementary School, Alexander Middle School and Lake Norman Charter School (due to their close proximity to North Mecklenburg High School).
Huntersville Police say a 15-year-old juvenile suspect was identified and the threat was determined to be false. All the schools have been taken off lockdown.
North Meck and Blythe High Schools sent the following messages to parents about the incident:

This is Principal Dellinger calling with an update from our school. This morning, an anonymous threat was made by telephone to our campus. As a precaution, our campus went on lockdown as is our standard procedure. Law enforcement is here to ensure safety, has not identified a credible threat and continues to investigate. All students and staff are safe and I will update information based on the results of this investigation by law enforcement.

No injuries were reported.
Police say the North Mecklenburg High School student will be charged with Making a False Report Concerning Mass Violence on Educational Property through the Juvenile Justice System.
