Teacher Writes ‘WTF’ On Student’s Assignment
A teacher didn’t just give her student a failing grade, she wrote “WTF” on his homework.
Now the boy’s mom says the teacher should face punishment.
The teacher returned the high schooler’s science assignment with: “WTF is this? Absolutely no credit’ written across the top.
The boy’s mom wasn’t happy about that.
“It wasn’t anything about not getting the credit, it was more so the language,” Melinda Smith says. “That was very inappropriate and not acceptable for a teacher whatsoever.”
Smith says the school should reprimand the teacher or at least put something in her file.
The school’s principal says the incident is being investigated, but he says the teacher made a mistake and she apologized.
“All of the teachers at Rutherford High School are caring, loving teachers,” says principal Coy Pilson. “We’re also human and so we make mistakes, but we understand that we are called to a high professional standard and when we make mistakes we try to correct those mistakes and move forward.”
Very little has been reported about this teacher; the school district isn’t identifying her and it’s also unclear if any action will be taken against her.
The reaction online is mixed: some people say they think the mom is overreacting, while others say teachers should be held to a higher standard.
