Two Suspects Wanted After Violent Home Invasion, Attempted Sexual Assault

The Latest:

CHARLOTTE, NC — The search is on for two men accused of forcing their way into a South Charlotte apartment, where police say they beat, robbed and tried to sexually assault a young mother. Her two children witnessed the entire thing.

The stay-at-home-mother was in her apartment around 6am Thursday with her 4-year-old and baby. Police say two masked men forced their way inside her home at the Lexington Green Apartments on Archdale Avenue.

The 24-year-old victim’s sister-in-law talked to WCCB Charlotte’s Alexandra Elich through a crack in the door.

She says the apartment door was left unlocked after the victim’s husband went to work. Once inside: the two suspects hit her in arm with a bat and pistol whipped her in the head, knocking her out. The suspects said they’d kill her. Her children witnessed everything.

The sister-in-law says the attackers took money and jewelry. A police report says the 24-year-old victim went to the hospital with bruises and scratches.

CMPD says on Tuesday, the victim reported a breaking and entering at her home. They don’t have a specific description, so they don’t know if the crimes are related.
