Man Charged With Beating Teenage Girlfriend To Death In Stanly County

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office says they charged a man for beating his teenage girlfriend to death.

Deputies say they responded to Atrium Stanly in Albemarle on June 8th after receiving a report of an assault.  The victim, 19-year-old Taylor Liles of Albemarle, died from the injuries she sustained in the assault, according to a news release.

Authorities say further investigation revealed that the assault happened at Liles’ boyfriends’ home on N. Kendall Street in Norwood.

Lequinton Melton, 26, was arrested and charged with first degree murder.  He is currently being held in the Ralph McSwain Detention Center under no bond.  Deputies say Melton and Liles were in a relationship.

Authorities are asking for people to refrain from spreading false rumors, making threats and posting inflammatory comments on social media in reference to this case.
