Hickory Men Face Multiple Charges After Walmart, Lowe’s Thefts In Lincoln County

DENVER, NC — Lincoln County deputies have charged two men they say stole several items from a local Walmart and Lowe’s late Tuesday evening.

Larry Clark, 42, of Hickory was arrested shortly after 8:30 p.m. in a Walmart parking lot. Officials say Clark was sitting in a pickup truck making “suspicious movements inside” when deputies approached.

He was removed without incident, but deputies say a quick search of the glove box revealed multiple needles, digital scales and a black pouch containing various pills and possible illegal drugs. A loaded .22 caliber handgun was also found inside, according to officials.

Deputies say they located Clark after an off duty officer reportedly saw him loading a stolen generator into the back of the truck at a Lowe’s across the street.

In addition to Clark, deputies say witnesses reported another man and woman getting out of the truck and entering the Walmart.

A second suspect, Bill Hinson, 42, of Hickory was quickly located and taken into custody. He was reportedly in possession of two stolen Gerber knives at the time of his arrest.

Clark is charged with larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of a firearm by a felon, conspiracy, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule I, possession of a controlled substance Schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hinson is charged with misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen goods and conspiracy.

Deputies say they also located the woman sitting on a bench inside the Walmart, but she is not facing any charges.
