Raccoon Captured In Mint Hill Neighborhood Tests Positive For Rabies

MINT HILL, NC — CMPD Animal Care & Control says a rabies alert will be issued around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday for residents in the Shady Oaks Court neighborhood.

The alert comes after AC&C officials say a raccoon that was attacked by two dogs on June 11th tested positive for rabies. The dogs reportedly attacked the animal after it entered the owner’s yard.

Both dogs were current on their rabies vaccinations, officials say, and received their rabies boosters within 96-hours of exposure.

This is the fifth animal to test positive for rabies this year in Mecklenburg County.
