Boone Police Make Arrest In January Rape, Burglary Case

BOONE, NC — A man has been charged in connection to a rape and burglary that took place in January.

Boone Police say Quanshawn Jackson was arrested around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday in Spruce Pine, NC. Jackson was reportedly identified as the suspect in a rape and burglary case that happened earlier this year.

According to investigators, the young female victim told police she was sexually assaulted in her home on January 23rd after receiving a ride home from a local bar. The suspect’s identity remained unknown until officials say they recently received results from a DNA analysis conducted by the North Carolina State Crime Lab.

“When we submit evidence to the North Carolina Crime Lab for analysis, it takes time,” says Boone Police Chief Dana Crawford. “Those results are a crucial piece of evidence in this case. These type cases are among the most difficult cases we investigate. I am proud of our work in this investigation.”

Jackson has been charged with Felony Second-Degree Forcible Rape and Felony First-Degree Burglary. He is being held in McDowell County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.
