Deputies: 14-Year-Old Girl Charged After Stabbing Man In Chest, Running Into Woods

TAYLORSVILLE, NC — The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office says a 14-year-old girl has been charged after she allegedly stabbed a man in the chest Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say the Juvenile Court Counselor filed charges on Thursday of Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill on the juvenile. Her name is not being released at this time due to age.

The incident happened around 4:47 p.m. on Wood Road off of Three Forks Church Road. Authorities say the 14-year-old juvenile stabbed a 39-year-old man in the chest several times before running off into the woods.

Multiple agencies, including the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, Taylorsville Police, and the NC Highway Patrol searched the area for several hours trying to locate the teen.

She was found in a nearby wooded area around 6:23 p.m., officials say, and taken into custody without incident.

The victim was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

Authorities still have not said what led to the stabbing.
